Blogger security

I have heard many a blogger, to say that blogging fills a need. Blogging gives a humanizing effect on news and journaling, it also opens a window to personal life. Details shared in blogs only once was available for a selected group of friends, and while blogging has become the common place, it has risks, which must not be ignored. Cyberstalking is a new phenomenon that allows anonymous online STALKERS to prowl the victims. Online bloggers traditionally contains personal information about their lives. As a result, many women are this blog become victims. Most people are worried about children on the Internet and set up strict posting guidelines for children, young people and teenagers, but some adults heed warnings and often do not believe that they also can be targeted. Females, in particular, must be careful when circumnavigating the blogosphere. If you are a blogger or contemplating an online diary, consider these tips to protect your identity: does not have an online profile.
Most blogging services allow bloggers to create an online profile. While it may be fun to post information about likes and dislikes, it is best to refrain from posting any personal information. Personal information does often inadvertently insight physical location or habits. The aggregated information of a personal profile can also help someone interested in pursuing a single person. Post anonymously.
Manage your blog anonymously or adopt an alias for all online posting. This will protect you in the event that you draw unwanted attention. Avoid personal or identifying information.
Avoid any personal or identifying information, posting in your blog. Do not Post in advance of the bins that you want to be or areas that you live near. No images.
Not to post a picture. Photographs can invite problems or unwanted attention. Avoid inappropriate dialogue.
Be careful not to engage in dialogue, which could be interpreted in a way that it was not the intention. Sometimes humorous threads can get out of hand. If the dialogue reduces to an area, creepy, withdraw from the dialogue and refrain from further posting. Also when decisions about individuals online, consider their previous posting behavior and try to consider their real intentions. Lurkers.
Always remember, just because you do not have a dialogue with someone does not mean that they do not read everything you type. Many people simply lurk on the line and engage not in the comment posting, but read what is written. Your audience could be much greater than you realize. Timeless.
Content on the Internet is timeless, and remember that when you remove content, it can be archived or syndicated. If you do not want something to read, not Post it to the Internet. High schools, colleges and employers, search on the Internet to deduce a individuals history. Dirty details about a late night does not help landing a coveted job. The Internet is a haven for all types of predators. Always remember, just because someone says something is true does not mean that it is. Predators adopt personas of who they think they should be. Just as we give guidance to young children, adults should be cautious and take precautions when posting online, as well as. While blogging can be a great outlet and channel, and in someway immortalizing thoughts, it is important that safety is considered and that good blogging practice is followed at all times. Create RSS | Make RSS Feeds

Posted by Alan | Posted in , | Posted on 12:51

RSS is a standard for syndicating content on the Internet. RSS feeds are used in many different ways to distribute all types of content over the Internet. Benefits for individuals to subscribe to RSS feeds has resulted in a rapid growth and adoption rate. Software and tools have made RSS feed creation and management easy, even for non-technical persons who also have gas-driven growth of RSS feeds.
How to create RSS It is no longer necessary to manually create an RSS feed. There are a number of WYSIWYG software programs available, which simplifies the creation of an RSS feed. This means that webmasters really don't need to understand the code and details about the RSS specification to create an RSS feed. Such a product is FeedForAll, where you can easily create, edit and publish RSS feeds. Both Mac and Windows versions are available at http://www.feedforall.com.
Feeds can also be manually designed from scratch as well as, and there is a simple tutorial that will walk you through the process at http://www.make-rss-feeds.com/making-an-rss-feed.htm.
And if you have existing content in a database that you want to include in an RSS feed, you can use a PHP script which SQL2RSS to extract data from the database and fill out an RSS feed.
All these things will simplify the process and contribute to the creation of an RSS feed. Transfer When RSS feed is created, it must be transferred to the server home page, as is commonly done using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software. If you use RSS feed creation software, it will have a built-in FTP client for this purpose. Otherwise, you can use a different FTP client to upload RSS feeds to the website. Validate When you have built a feed, it should be validated. If you use software (such as FeedForAll), it may have a built-in validator to help you assure that the feed is correct and correct. If you build the feed by hand, must ensure that you are using a sort of validator to ensure feed formed correctly. A feed that contains invalid syntax will not be readable by many of the RSS readers so that validation is very important. RSS promotion After you have created, transmitted and validated an RSS feed, you need to your website visitors should know that it is available. There are a number of ways to promote your RSS feed. The more made an effort to promote the feed more quickly becomes popular. In order to send a signal to your website visitors, as an RSS feed is available as content related to the home page, includes most webmasters colorful graphics on your Web site. It has become standard that nearly all Web sites with RSS feeds available use colorful graphics such as flags to indicate that RSS feeds are available for specific content. The Flag was originally standardized as light orange rectangles but as the popularity has grown, webmasters have bent the rules a little and have been more creative with their flag, and graphics. Use colorful graphics that work within your website design to indicate that you have an RSS feed available.
In addition, many RSS feed readers and aggregators to automatically detect the presence of an RSS feed on your site if you are adding a little bit of code in the header field in an HTML page ....
[link rel = "alternate" type = "application/rss + xml" title = "rss" href = "http://www.yourdomain.com/rss.xml"]
Make sure to replace http://www.yourdomain.com/rss.xml "" with the actual URL to the RSS feed and replace the "[" and "]"<" less-than="" and="" "="">"in square brackets with" greater-than symbols.
In order to increase the exposure of an RSS feed, it should also be submitted to the RSS search engines and directories. Just as you would send the URL of a Web site or a Web page to a search engine, you must send the link to the actual RSS feed located on your site to the various RSS directories. There is a long list of RSS directories at http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-submission.htm. Ongoing RSS Feed-maintenance Feed maintenance is a very important aspect to the RSS feeds. You want to continuously add to your RSS feed for giving subscribers a new and changing content and information. Otherwise, they lose interest and find information elsewhere. As a rapidly growing number of content sources, new and old, add RSS as a key distribution channel, and as more and more people use RSS news readers and aggregators to keep themselves informed, the ability to maintain high exposure and visibility gradually switched from complete attention on major search engines and content optimization techniques to a growing awareness of RSS feed directories and search Tools. RSS is not only for Blogs

Contrary to popular opinion, RSS is not only good for delivering content from your blog, although blogs what made RSS so popular.RSS can actually be used to deliver a wide range of content types and content needs. If you can divide the contents into individual stories or individual pieces, you can deliver it via RSS. If you just want to give you an impression of the power of RSS, here are some examples of content you can publish with it--> MarketingVOX is using RSS to deliver internet marketing news to their readers, as it becomes available. Rather than waiting to receive all the news in a single e-mail newsletter, RSS users get them as soon as they are ready.--> Amazon.com uses RSS to announce their Bestsellers and help their users keep track of releases they are most interested in.--> some managers already communicate with their affiliates using RSS affiliate. You can of course use it to communicate with any other segment, as your employees or team members, and even your business owners. --> FindSavings.com uses RSS to deliver savings coupons and related information.--> Lockergnome uses RSS to provide visitors with the latest downloads and the appropriate software. Again using other companies RSS to deliver product updates and patches directly to their customers, just as they become available. --> A few hundred content publishers are using RSS to deliver audio content, such as .MP3 interviews and even radio shows. --> Textamerica.com allows people to post pictures, videos and text from their mobile phones and then make this content available via RSS feeds.--> other companies are using RSS to deliver white papers and other educational content.--> one company uses RSS as a consulting billing awareness tool. The consultants create activity reports and RSS feeds from activity channels carry the billable information to the accounting staff for invoice preparation. --> Many internet publishers are using RSS to deliver their newsletters, as a complement to their e-mail delivery. Since many people no longer want to give their e-mail address away to publishers, this is a great way to keep your e-zine readership growing. --> Publish living digital catalogues of your products and provide your customers with your latest product releases, broken down by the categories they are interested in, and make it easy for them to order.--> give your affiliates and marketing partners with RSS feeds they can encourage their visitors to better promote your products and still make a Commission. Amazon.com makes already it. When you start?--> create RSS autoresponders with scheduled messages to keep constant marketing contact with your prospects and slowly move them to the Distributor. --> Offers limited access content to your customers, employees, team members, and even investors, without fear of other unwanted eyes. Use RSS for internal communications, teamworking and other needs. --> Give your customers easy access to software updates, delivered to them exactly as they become available without fuss of having to visit the Web site or deal with large attachments, which would get blocked by spam filters anyway. --> Newsreporters are constantly bombarded with e-mail, so why not instead deliver your press releases via RSS? Or even better yet, why not provide some of your releases as video comments, interviews or statements from your company's managers or owners?--> help your visitors keep with what s going on in your forum, by publishing your latest forum posts or whole threads via RSS. And yet is still only a few examples of what you can do with RSS today, because something new nearly every day. Why authors should Blog

Why authors should Blog
by John Colanzi while watching the presidential conventions, I was struck by the fact that blogs had completely revolutionized the publishing industry. Sit with the major news agencies were bloggers hectic to write in their notebooks. Even experienced veterans, who had covered previous conventions mentioned power of this new media. Dynamic nature of blogs bloggers with their laptops could report in real time, thus getting their stories online long before the morning newspapers would hit the streets. Commentators said even that many of the latest news stories reported first by bloggers. Think about this in a minute. Gutenberg revolutionized the publishing industry by letting authors mass produce their work. The next phase of growth was the Internet. Finally, could any publish their work and have it sent around the globe in seconds. When the digital publishing revolution frames, it seemed too good to be true. With the digital revolution could any and all now spread their message. Authors could bypass the traditional publishing industry, and save time in getting their work to the public. They had no longer fear, feared rejection slip. They could succeed or fail on their own merits. No one had control over how or what he or she could write. The Internet was a writer s paradise. It seemed as good as it could have.Well, we hadn t seen anything. Weblog files or blogs as they are called, have propelled publishing to the next level. Not only could authors Publish in real time, it could have it online immediately. Create RSS Feeds

Posted by Alan | Posted in , | Posted on 11:19

Daily more and more websites, news services and blogs are adding RSS content. RSS is a method of syndicating content. The concept of aggregating content in a central location or warehouse is very appealing. Consumers have been tired of push technology, RSS gives users the flexibility to regain control of their content. RSS feed creators provide content without forcing it on to consumers. In fact with RSS consumers are able to choose the content they want to view.

How to make a RSS Feed
RSS feeds contain what are referred to as "elements". Elements are normally connected in some way and contain a common theme or other similarity.

If you want to save themselves headaches of hand-code consider an RSS feed to use FeedForAll, application user friendly software that formats the XML for you.

Contains eight items at the time of writing the following feed materials http://www.notepage.net/feed.xml. The items are all SMS and paging related news articles which would probably be beneficial to anyone interested in the wireless market.

Each element contains:

Title and description must be written to describe the content and the link must refer to the Web page that contains the actual content.

Just as html uses XML file open and close tags to designate a title, description and link. The codes are enclosed in <>in square brackets, like standard HTML and close the code contains a forward slash/.

The following is an element in an XML file looks like:

The title goes here
Description goes here
http://www.linkgoeshere.com

As I mentioned earlier, an RSS feeds contains elements and, like the above marks an open and close tag is used to distinguish between elements.

The title goes here
Description goes here
http://www.linkgoeshere.com

Another title goes here
Another description goes here
http://www.anotherlinkgoeshere.com

Now an RSS feed is a range of topics, to link these items together to create what is called a "channel".

Channel appears at the top of the file and tell people how items relate to each other. Like the elements user channels title, description, and link tags to describe its contents. The code open channel event occurs before the first element and exits mark occurs after the last element.

Channel title goes here
Explanation of how the elements are related goes here
http://www.directoryoflinksgohere

The title goes here
Description goes here
http://www.linkgoeshere.com

Another title goes here
Another description goes here
http://www.anotherlinkgoeshere.com

Finally, you identify the file by specifying it is an XML file by inserting the xml and rss define codes at the beginning and end.

Channel title goes here
Explanation of how the elements are related goes here
http://www.directoryoflinksgohere

The title goes here
Description goes here
http://www.linkgoeshere.com

Another title goes here
Another description goes here
http://www.anotherlinkgoeshere.com

When you save the file, you must save it as an XML file.

Warning
If you create the file using Dreamweaver or a similar tool that it does not deprive becareful out is marks it feels redundant. In order to be a RSS-feed your file should be on that marks that were discussed above, and the file will not be valid, if the codes are dressed like minimum.

I found a cool small, freely distributable program that helped in the creation of the xml file is called first object editor http://www.firstobject.com/

Validation
As my math teacher use to say, check your work! When your file is finished and uploaded einter for animal feed validator by http://feedvalidator.org

Syndication/submission
If you've made it this far you are in good shape, it is time to "publish" your content! Submit your RSS feed (the XML file you created) to the Web sites, just as you would send a Web page. Some of the more popular Web sites that accept RSS files can be found under "Post rss Feed"

Everything RSS

What are RSS Feeds?
RSS Feeds
RSS-also known as rich site summary or real simply syndication arrived on the scene of a number of years ago, but was only recently embraced by webmasters as a means to effectively syndicate content. RSS Feeds provide webmasters and content providers an avenue to provide concise summaries to prospective readers. Thousands of commercial Web sites and blogs now publish content Summaries in an RSS feed. Each item in the feed typically contains a heading; Article summary and link back to the online article.Advantage to Webmaster
Because the Internet has become more crowded webmasters have strive to deliver fresh and updated content for their website visitors. Many webmasters have discovered they can easily take advantage of the information contained in RSS feeds to provide fresh Web content. RSS feeds are composed in XML, which is a very simple markup language. Similar to HTML, XML uses tags to identify fields. Webmasters can easily parse the RSS feed and dynamically create Web pages that contain headlines and summaries. Feeds are updated on an ongoing basis, providing a steady stream of automatically generated fresh content. RSS allows webmasters to:
1.) Delivers fresh and relevant content on their website, which encourages users to return. 2.) constantly changing content means that search engine spiders will visit more often. 3.) automate content delivery.Advantages of RSS feeds are not limited to webmasters, surfers also benefit technology and.Advantage for Web surfers
The beauty of RSS is that readers can quickly scan headlines (titles) and read articles of interest. Because information is narrow and in a single location users can generally review more information in a shorter time frame. Additional information is only a click away. Best of all readers choose they want to see, there is no spam with RSS feeds. If you are not completely delighted with content is displayed in a feed, simply remove it from your news reader. Technology is a pull technology rather than push technology, which means that the content is not forced consumers who pulls the content they want to see.

RSS makes it possible for users to:
1.) can easily find information.

2.) Read condensced information or ' soundbytes ' with clearly marked and dated topic material.3.) Classification and categorize information in an easy to navigate manner.4.) to maximize their time without having to deal with spam. RSS feeds can be viewed in a news aggregator or a card reader, which is constantly updated and shows the unread feeds. I found the behavior of the news readers must correspond to a simple e-mail client. Consumers generally enter the URL of any RSS feeds that are of interest to them. items with a common theme can be separated into related groups.I recommend FeedDemon http://www.feeddemon.com by BradSoft as a news reader. FeedDemon is extremely easy to use and allows for quick scanning and indexing of topics. FeedDemon allows users to quickly scan, sort and scroll through headline and article summaries, while you view the actual content in a split screen web browser.Finding topic specific relevant Feeds
In order to find feeds with niche information, users can search Feedster. Feedster http://www.feedster.com is a rapidly growing news search engine, indexing the contents of RSS feeds. Searching for topic specific feeds can be implemented and feeds can be retrieved for syndication. Advantage for content developer
While the benefits users and webmasters are ready distribution opportunities available to content developers must not be forgotten. The information contained in the RSS feed can be easily published, increase content distribution and reach. RSS allows content developers to:
1.) increase exposure in niche markets.2.) Communicate with the user bases and reach potential customers through an alternate communication method.3.) disseminate relevant information. 4.) defines itself as an expert industry.5.) automate content delivery. RSS has effectively standardized format for content delivery and have effectively defined the accepted standard for content distribution and syndication. RSS will likely rival email as a means of content distribution in another year. The shear simplicity makes the technology very appealing.Potential, while albeit difficult to measure, distribution is still attractive to all parties to make the likelihood that RSS popularity will only continue to increase. Tips to optimize Video Podcasts

Posted by Alan | Posted in , , | Posted on 20:58

Optimize Video Podcasts
It doesn't matter what you call them: vodcasts, vidcasts, video casting, or video podcasting ... There are a couple of background actions you can take in order to attract more attention to your video productions. Like websites, it doesn't matter how amazing the content is if interested people could not find it.
Use the following proposal to increase the exposure your videos receive ...
1. use keywords Video file name Insert keywords in the video file name. When determining which keywords to use, not just rely on intuition; research, just as you would do for a website to see what people are searching on relevant conditions.
2. Create Video Feedcreate an RSS feed of all videos in a collection. Each feed item should contain a second video in the chassis. Optimize feed by using related keywords. Extra help, there is a Video casting Feed creation Tutorial available at http://www.feedforall.com/videocasting-tutorial.htm.
3. increase exposurehost your videos on YouTube and embed the video in your home page, which will increase the number of video on YouTube. More popular a video appears to be, it will receive more exposure.
4. Video name and description description name fields and video use keywords that relate to the content of the video. Create a compelling yet relevant title and description, will encourage people to click through.
5. Google Video Sitemap create a video sitemap to search engines. Information about what is included in such sitemaps, granted Google specifications in their Google Webmaster central Blog at http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/12/introducing-video-sitemaps.html. 6. Meta Data include metadata in the video file. Newer video search engines are often dependent on metadata to relevant results. Many video editing products will allow you to edit and customize the metadata associated with the video file, and you must use this in the same way you would use meta data to a Web page.
7. optimize the Startup page optimize landing page on your site, embedding the video in a Web page on your site and then use standard SEO techniques to optimize Web page for search engines. Use keywords that relate to the video on the page containing the video.
8. Printoutsprovide a text transcript of the video, both on the destination page and in RSS feed for the video.
9. Embed URL in the Videomark video with your logo in the original video splash screen, and include your website address at the bottom of the video to increase your brand exposure.
10. Leave them wanting morethe video should be a teaser and leaves the audience wanting more. Engage the audience, but to try to encourage the Viewer to visit the Web site or view other videos to learn more.
11. submit YouTube Feed YouTube creates an RSS feed for each user account that is created. In addition to manually create an RSS feed, you can also use the YouTube feed to promote your videos. Formatting information for the YouTube video feeds can be found at http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/username/uploads (replace "username" in the URL with your own YouTube account username).
12. Anchor text when a link to the video, use anchor text that contains keywords that relate to the video.
13. Video Submission sending video to all video sites, and video podcast sites. Here are a few of the resource sites to get you started ...

Podcast and Video submissions-http://www.podcasting-tools.com/submit-podcasts.htm
140 places to submit your Video list-http://www.stephanmiller.com/my-link-lists/140-place-to-submit-your-video-list/

14. Tag Video Tag video on video networks with relevant keywords, makes it easier for people to find when they search for these keywords.
15. Track views track and review the number of views, a video receiver. If you discover that a significant number of viewers are abandoning the video before completion, the chances are good that the video is too long and might benefit from trimming.
16. social bookmarkinguse social bookmarking to draw further attention to videos. This will also help with the number of inbound links, which in turn will help to improve search engine ranking.
Videørne is the latest marketing channel. In order to make the most of it, optimize the video and increase exposure it receives.

Marketers really need RSS?

Marketers really need RSS?
Copyright 2005 Rok Hrastnik the most recent study, Forrester Research, who claims that only 2% of online households in North America use RSS, took the internet marketing world by storm. Does this data really that marketers can still afford to ignore this channel?Soon after the Forrrester study became public, I received a press enquiery asking whether marketers should be interested in RSS now that so few online adults use it. Is this the right questions? Let s take a look at 1 the larger picture. FORRESTER STUDY validity The Forrester study is just one of these available and cannot be regarded as the only relevant study, even though it was performed on a sample of 68,000 households. Jupiter Research estimates RSS penetration at 12% of the u.s. online population, while the latest report from PEW shows that 9% of the u.s. online population has a good idea of RSS is. An October 2004 PEW study actually estimated RSS penetration at 5%.It is also important to understand that Forrester data does not include those who themselves might not be aware they are using RSS, especially through services such as My Yahoo., which is actually the most popular RSS reader at the same time, says Forrester. vice President Henry Harteveldt also that RSS is critical for any businesswho wants to reach out to people under the age of 30. 2. future growth of RSSregardless of the numbers we bet on the future growth of RSS is without a doubt. Recently, Microsoft announced full RSS support in the next version of their Internet Explorer browser and full RSS integration in the next version of their operating system, Windows Vista. When RSS becomes easily accessible to most internet users out-of-box and becomes as wide spread as bookmarks, its adoption will grow at an incredible speed. Microsoft has now ensured that this will actually happen. It is therefore time for marketers not only been interested in RSS but also master it is now. Those who test and discover the best possible ways of using RSS for marketing will be ahead of their competition, when everyone starts using RSS. In addition, since RSS implementation can actually be any free, there s no reason not to begin to give your content in RSS feeds now. 3. GOOGLE shows the way Microsoft and Yahoo! Apure t the only major players to show support for RSS. Google recently launched RSS advertising as part of their Google AdSense program, giving publishers reason to start their own RSS feeds to generate direct revenues. Them depends on the Google AdSense for part or all of their online revenues actually need to deliver RSS feeds or stand to lose some of the revenue due to their visitors switching to sites and feeds from their competitors.Face it, today many users begin already to request publishers provide them with the RSS to subscribe to their content. This trend will only continue with many users selecting RSS as their primary channel receive and read online content.4. QUESTIONABLE reliability of Email all marketers today are experiencing e-mail delivery problems, constant inquiries about their messages get or not. In short, email can no longer be invoked. For a recipient gives your content via RSS as a supplement to e-mail will help you to some, at least part of your visitors, those who decide for setting RSS all content without any doubt. Lockergnome.com decided to start pushing RSS instead of e-mail some time ago, and as a result, so that their RSS feeds been outperforming e-mail when it comes to clickthrough rates of around 500%. Also an interesting fact, today they have 5 times more RSS subscribers than e-mail subscribers. And two of your most important content updates, RSS really becomes a must, especially if you must be in contact with your existing customers, partners and other key audiences. If you want to be 100% certain that your messages reach your audience, RSS is the way forward. 5. other benefits of RSS , but all of the above don t even touch all the reasons why marketers should begin using RSS today
(a)) RSS helps you generate extra traffic and reach out to new audiences. In view of the low prices of RSS implementation is reason enough to get started with RSS today.
(b)) RSS helps you easily get the content published on other sites, thereby generating you more credibility and visitors.
(c)) as a publisher, you can use RSS to display content from other sources, so make your site more relevant and interesting to your existing visitors. And the list goes on and. RSS may not be mainstream yet, but has enough advantages even today in order to make the must-choice for marketers.

Podcast promotion
Podcasting is a great new medium, but creating a podcast is only half of the work. Promote a podcast is equally critical for the success.
1. Educate the public.

RSS or Really Simple Syndication is as it is commonly known, a technology that gives webmasters the ability to easily distribute and publish syndicated content on the Internet. It looks as if all internet businesses now have RSS feeds available; at least do your competitors. You have finally made the decision, you must have a. Where do you start?Step in creating an RSS feed

1. Build a Feed)

There are a number of desktop and Web applications available that make feed creation easy. I urge everyone who creates a feed using a. Although not overly complicated and can hand-coding an RSS feed will be a little confusing and time consuming. Most desktop applications for building a feed includes a wizard and contact-sensitive help, simplifying the process of creating a feed. After a few simple steps in a wizard generally will produce an RSS feed in just a few minutes.

Publishers can control what information is syndicated in RSS feed, so that end it is the Publisher's decision on whether or not to include teaser copy or full articles. This can be done by using a standard FTP client (if it is not built into the software, feed creation). The diet is usually located at the domain's root directory like this: http://www.mydomain.com/nameoffeed.xml, but as long as you know where it is it doesn't matter, really.3.) displays the feed on your site uses a graphic in some varieties to indicate to site visitors that an RSS feed containing content related to the home page is available, include a colorful graphic on the site. It has become a standard that nearly all websites that have RSS feeds available use colorful graphics such as flags as indicators which RSS feeds are available for specific content. Flags were initially bright orange rectangles but as the popularity has grown, webmasters have bent the rules a little. Shared RSS-RSS Syndication

Posted by Alan | Posted in , , | Posted on 06:03

RSS Syndication

RSS Syndication or RSS Newsfeeds (RSS Feeds for short) refer to the same. There are two parts in the process, the publisher and the consumer. Publisher produces a small text file in a special format that displays the title and address of an article or resource published on the World Wide Web. The consumer uses a program, usually called an aggregator to read and display the contents of this simple text file with links to the Web page. Or the consumer can visit a Web site that contains a news reader program, and view the results as a Web page. Members of Yahoo.com, for example, can set their personal My Yahoo pages to show the contents of any RSS feeds you select. It is all there is to it. Simple. Therefore, some say RSS stands for ' Really Simple Syndication. " Some confusion has arisen because an RSS feed can be used in several ways. Call it a newsfeed is the first error, since RSS is used for much more than news. The most common situation is for the RSS elements must have a short title, create a link to the original page referred to, and a brief description of the contents of this Web page. But other people also the complete contents of their resource directly in the RSS feed. So feed can contain a graphical image of an animated film, an entire post to a weblog (or blog), or the complete contents of a newsletter, rather than just a link back to these resources on a Web site. Other sites omit the description, and only list titles linked back to their home page. And some versions of RSS, you can omit the title, as long as you have a description.Talk about the ' versions ' of RSS, there is a source of even more confusion. RSS began with version 0.93, and was called the ' RDF Site Summary "--RDF refers to" Resource Description Framework, "method for marking different parts of the file. This early version was updated and modified through various editions, including 0.91, 0.92, 0.93, 0.94, and they began to call RSS ' Really Simple Syndication. " Then someone came along with a different format, a little more complicated, and called it RSS version 1.0. Supporters of version 0.94 like not implied that 1.0 or otherwise was an advance on 0.94 when in reality it was a completely different format, so they came up with the version 2.0 which was an improved version of 0.94, but still, in contrast to 1.0. Rather than take sides in this quarrel, another came up with their own version and called the Atom, to distance themselves from RSS-battle. Another developed blogrolls using OPML (Outline Processor Markup Language). Most of these formats are loosely or strictly based on XML, overall mark-up scheme. None of this confusion method and purpose has helped spread this really useful tool. Most RSS aggregators can read any of these formats, so the situation is not as hopeless as it may seem, but many people still throw it all out, when they cannot find out exactly how it is supposed to work. At http://www.SharedRSS.com/we are using version 1.0, because it is approved by the W3C as being supportive ' Semantic Web '. Casual user, however, is really not important version. SharedRSS is a simple Web site that performs a very strong feature ... it brings the benefits of RSS syndication to all those who publish home pages, but adding new material all too rarely justify having their own RSS feed. RSS Syndication was designed to help people find information about new content on the Internet long before the search engines come to find it makes it easy for people to find out about new content that interests themwithout having to return to the search engines and Wade through all the material you have seen before. For sites with content changes often, it has worked well for them to create their own RSS feed and update it as new content is added to their website. But what about all the websites that add only an occasional new article or story to their site, or publish a newsletter once per month? Or those who just can't take time to figure the details formatting an RSS feed? An RSS feed, only updated once every few months is of negligible value; very few people want to add it to their search list in their aggregator. Shared RSS solves this problem by mixing together articles from various sites covers the same topic, and allow them to announce the availability of their new material in the feed is shared with other publish on the same subject. This makes the feeds more useful for consumers so that they are more inclined to add the link to their aggregator. It is of benefit to the Publisher of make more people aware of their material, as soon as it is put online. ________________________________________________

RSS opportunities

5 New Internet marketing opportunities through RSS
Copyright 2005 Rok Hrastnik when it comes to new internet marketing opportunities for your business, RSS just might be the answer you were looking for. Here are just some of the new opportunities it can provide you with

1. PODCASTING and VIDEO CASTING

Podcasting (delivering internet audio content) and Video casting (delivering internet video content), you can communicate via rich media messages, not only to make your content more attractive and powerful, but also allows for a more personal conversation with your audience.

Until know, the Internet was predominantly a textual channel. Add audio and video to the mix, delivering both via RSS, goes beyond the basic facilities by traditional internet content delivery channels. Rich media personalizes the internet experience and gives your company a distinguishable face, but at the same time gives you a media platform to convey your message, so it is easier to understand, see and feel. Think ...--> delivers press releases in audio or video
--> Send your customers a personal video message from CEO
--> Makes audio interviews to extend your reach and give more content for your visitors
--> Deliver video demonstrations of your products
--> Using video and audio to demonstrate how your customers and readers can easily resolve various problems, you are helping them with
--> Delivers important messages to your readers, customers and business partners via a more personal audio experience instead of using impersonal e-mail communications
-->, Etc. .. In addition, the Foundation Podcasting and Video casting are for new business models, allows you to expand your product base to include these formats with higher perceived value. Customer training and support should be improved, because you can now demonstrate key product usage points via online video customer support content in a format that can easily demonstrate everything you need to convey to your customers. 2. HIGH FREQUENCY content updates high frequency content updates, even on a daily or hourly basis, is now finally possible with RSS. No more need to keep on your important messages, news and other content for a week or a month to include it in your e-zine---with RSS you can update your content as often as you want/need and your subscribers not given. 3. APPCASTING Appcasting goes one step further, allowing you to deliver critical software updates and patches to your existing clients, without having to visit the site each week to see if the much-needed update is already available or not. 4. product news, RELEASES and updatesproduct news, releases, and updates are now finally possible in an easy-to-consume way. Using RSS, you can give your customers or prospects with simple tools to create their own product feeds, through which they receive immediate notification when new products that exactly matches their interests are available. As soon as your product portfolio changes, it makes the content in the RSS feeds, your customers are subscribed to. Just think of the following possibilities ...--> tool search for one of the most often used in larger Web-shops, give your visitors an easy way to find the products they are interested. But the same search results can be delivered via RSS as well as. Imagine your customer to search for one of your product categories, and then will also receive a link to the RSS feed for these very same search results, find out immediately a new product matching his terms is released or available for order.
--> This works for complex searches. If your customers are in the habit in order to search for specific product categories, but only in a specific price range, you can deliver these very same results to them via RSS, but with a small twist as soon as a new product to fit their conditions, including the desired price is launched, they will be notified about it via RSS instantly. No reason to visit your site again to make the time-consuming search; the release comes directly to you.
-->, Of course, the same procedure, as many are already using for e-mail alerts can be used for RSS. Give visitors in a simple form with the help of which they enter their criteria, and then give them access to an RSS feed bringing them product updates based exactly on their criteria. Why not just use email? Because no one really wants more e-mail messages in their inboxes, and nobody wants to give their personal information, while RSS is anonymous, and does not require an e-mail address and read when the customer decides he has time.5. Personalized CONTENT SERVICESpersonalized/customized database listings are quite similar to product updates, but relates to any form of complex information, you give your visitors, such as--> Job listings
--> Dating
--> Real estate
--> Etc. Using RSS, your visitors can decide exactly what kind of content (in this case, a single content item could be a new job list) they are looking for and then have the content delivered directly to them via their own customized RSS feed. And yet, all these are just some examples of what you can do with RSS. The possibilities for new content delivery and development of business models are quite endless. For example, some companies already offer their visitors the opportunity to track their FedEx, UPS, and other packages via RSS feeds. Even create other new services that make it possible to receive important information from an RSS feed to your mobile phone via SMS (like getting an SMS message to a new job matches your criteria is available). Again makes other sites it is possible to keep track of when you must return your library material, and even when your holds are ready and when they are about to expire, all of this using RSS. All of these are new business opportunities made possible with RSS, and each of them in a way improves lives of end-users, without placing them in a larger burden (multiple messages).

What is Creative Commons?

Posted by Alan | Posted in , | Posted on 10:33

Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that allows artists, authors, publishers and musicians the option of creating and defining a flexible copyright for their creative works. Creative Commons was officially launched in 2001 by a group of intellectual property experts, lawyers and web publishers. Creative Commons licenses cover art, music and writing, but is not designed for software.A Creative Commons license allows creators to place conditions on their copyright. Traditionally, restrict the copyright rights of others from modifying or distributing copywritten works. Creative Commons licenses offer flexibility by allowing creator (copyright holder) the opportunity to choose what limitations they want place with regard to specific copywritten works. How Creative Commons works
Creators login to the Creative Commons system and select what restrictions, attributes, or changes they wish to assign to their creative works. The Web site for Creative Commons will then prepare a Creative Commons license to the creative works expressed in three ways. Will provide Creative Commons: the commons deed clearly establishes licensing rights in plain English, legal code for the operating licence and a digital license code. Digital code can be embedded in websites and search engines. Yahoo has a new Creative Commons Search which identifies works and recognizes any licensing conditions. Searches can be conducted for different types of licenses. The Web site for Creative Commons also offers the icon with a home page which clearly marks the creative work as some rights reserved or no rights reserved. There are a number of licensing options for the copyright holder. Assign a Creative Commons license does not mean that the rightholder provide rights to a piece of art, it simply means some conditions could be placed on the use of creative works.Examples of creative common license options
A Creative Commons license enables copyright holders to grant some of their rights to the public while retaining other rights. NonCommercial -a non-commercial license can others copy, distribute, perform creative works and derivative works, but only for Noncommercial purposes (anyone using the creative works do not profit from it).ShareAlike -A ShareAlike license allows others to distribute derivative works under an identical to that held by the original copyright holder license. noderivative Works -A NoDerivative Works clause allows others to copy, distribute, display, and perform the exact copywritten works and no derivative works can be created. Attribution -an Attribution license means creative works can be copied, distributed, displayed, or performed and derivative works can be created, provided that appropriate credit to the original copyright holder has been given. Many artists believe that a Creative Commons license increases their exposure but still allow them to retain their rights to the creative works, a balance between ownership, credit and use. In the end, giving a Creative Commons license holders to grant some of their rights to the public while retaining others; with Creative Commons copyright holder retains the flexibility to manage the rights to their creative works. Let us be honest. There are three types of people in the world. * Yahoos * Googlers * people are neither or both. I have been lurking in forums, and I realized something-they seem to be very Ranger than me. But then, almost all. I have been a Google gal for some time. There I said it.. and why not? Google has been good to me. Yahoo has finally convinced me that they are at a minimum, the top bid for the title of heavyweight search engine champion of the world. I now take them very seriously for many reasons. (I don't want to bore you with all of them here-but if you would like to be bored, see ongoing updates-: http://freetrafficdirectory.com/yes2yahoo-or if you are new to RSS and don't get how it can help your marketing, join our discussion-http://www.freetrafficdirectory.com/Forums.)

What really has the potential to make me into a type 2 or 3 is attention Yahoo pays to RSS. Like all I heard big message back in February of this year that Yahoo was to develop an RSS folder and had re-launched their Beta RSS headlines module of the "My Yahoo!". Still, I took my time hopping on the "marketing via RSS" bandwagon, even though I've had feeds on most of my sites since the end of 2002. When I finally began to use my feeds during some research, I ran across Yahoo's "add to my Yahoo!" button on many sites that also carry the orange "xml" insignia, and I must say, it shocks me how easy it seems to be to get Yahoo attention to your feed. Remote control functionality Yahoo tell them that they produce an RSS folder on this page: http://my.yahoo.com/s/publishers.html#find

The page goes to tell you to get your feed included is as simple as adding your feed to "My Yahoo" page. You can think, as I was, that this cannot be the same Yahoo we are talking about. If a search engine many secretly hoped would not be in the off chance that we could go back to Google on Yahoo days? (Don't look at me. I am not that much of a Google gal.) But yes, the same Yahoo Whose directory many found so difficult to get into the days of yore, displays your feed in their directory almost immediately.

Promote my study in blowing dust from my own Yahoo page, unused since 2003, scrolled to the bottom, and click the button "Select content". They will not try to hide it. In five steps, taking me less than a minute, my link was added. Under the first section of the settings for "My Front page" under "My Yahoo! Essentials", "RSS headlines (BETA) new!". I chose to (step one), and on the next page, all I had to do was type in my news feed, (step two) click Search (step four), and then when the page path settings, click the button "Finish" (step 5). I logged into my site control panel and checked the logs that shows my most recent visitors. I saw the line "yahoofeedseeker/1.0", not just at my feed, but it points to, almost immediately the links.

A few hours later, I went to search the folder for feeds similar to mine. A search for "traffic secret" popped my site up-now is the rapid admission. I noticed the next day, each time I updated part of my site that has the diet doubles the number of visitors to the page. So it looks like if you are not in a crowded niche, now is a great time to add your feed-there were about 48 results for "internet marketing", but only 7 for "sunglasses". Once you have sent, don't forget to stick one of the buttons "add to my Yahoo!" on a visible place on your web property.

The following link will take you directly to the instructions that appear on Yahoo: http://my.yahoo.com/s/publishers.html#promote-or if you're as lazy as I am, get Yahoo do the work for you-http://my.yahoo.com/s/button.html. Want to search Yahoos RSS folder for your Web site or other? Just go to "My Yahoo!" page, find where you added the RSS headlines block and click "Edit", usually in the upper-right corner of the block of content. That will take you to a new page.

Now, where you would normally type a URL, enter your keywords, or if you know a site has a feed, but don't know the address, the type of the page home. Advanced users can also click the Import feature to import feeds through their.OPML-file. You can view up to 50 feeds per page, but there does not seem to be a limit on how many feeds, you can include in Yahoo. When opens a Browse-able version of Yahoos RSS Directory, and how much more traffic you can expect when it does not? I have not heard any speculation on when the beta period will be up, but I would be willing to be it will be soon. My proposal?

Add your link now, while Yahoo appears to take all.

Blog posts that attract attention

Blog posts that attract attention
By Sharon Housley

Blogs are now a dime "a dozen, and bloggers must make their eye-catching blog posts. Develop a blog following is not as easy as it once was. Learn how to write blog posts that attract readers and keep their attention. Follow these guidelines to cultivate readers ... 1. draw attention use titles to attract the reader's attention to the blog post. The title should mimic newspaper headlines and generate interest in the blog post. The title can be controversial, but not in the scope it is misleading. Use action words in the title. Bloggers will often come with a handful of potential titles of blog posts and then settle on the title that is best suited to a particular blog post. 2. Deliver have a catchy title, but after it with content that fails to deliver, you will not be to the readers. Blog content must deliver what is promised in the blog title, or readers will unsubscribe and stop reading. When deciding on a blog title, not deviate too far from the content, as the two are intricately--the title will attract the reader's attention, but the content must then live up to expectations ... or blogger's reputation will suffer. 3. Accuratenothing stains a blogger reputation as inaccurate information, so make sure that your blog posts contain accurate information. Intentionally posting inaccurate or false information will significantly damage the reputation of a blogger. But if there is an error unintentionally or accidentally in a blog post, you need to quickly post a deviation or correction, together with an explanation and apology in order to save your good reputation. 4. relevant and timely blog posts should always be relevant and timely. Hearing about something long after it has occurred will not Record readers. Blog about information that is happening here and now. If you want to write something that is no longer timely, you must add a kind of twist, or include new or updated information make it relevant. 5. On the subjectall blogs should have a general theme that connects all the posts on the blog. Readers will expect posts that are related in some way, so stay true to the blog theme and topic. 6. use keywordsusing keywords liberally in blog posts. Search engines will attempt to categorize the contents of a blog entry and distinguish its general topic. Including related keywords or keyword phrases, search engines have an easier time classifying the blog's content. In addition, a blog that uses keywords have a better chance of ranking well for those keywords or keyword phrases in organic search listings. 7. Evaluate Web LogsReview web logs to determine which blog posts have been popular with readers. Then figure out how to provide similar or related content, there may also be of interest for these readers.8. original blog posts should always contain original and unique content. If you simply re-posting information from others, include editorial content or another spin information. Readers will not constantly turn the same information--they are interested in reading new material.9. Chunky contentbreak content into smaller pieces and readable. Most visitors to your Web site will just scan paragraphs for information, and only very few will take time to read all the words in a record. Use bulleted lists, or to split the web copy of title bolded sub-topics that appear before section. Write blog posts is not just about spewing forth content. Best blogs are well-designed and contain unique content, provocative and interesting. Follow the steps above to produce a relevant blog worth reading. About the author:

Instant Podcasts

Instant content; Convert a text article to a Podcast
We learned how to recycle paper, cans, bottles and plastic but marketers rarely discuss the value of repackaging and customization content. Both publishers and marketers have embraced content syndication and RSS but few have considered the value beyond the actual syndication. Consider an alternative communication channel, when a new or different audience.

Customization and repackaging content or information so that it can be consumed through a series of preserving the environment is not a new concept. Many companies Vision Correction today increased communication as a common goal. Cost conscious businesses with tight budges are often interested in minimizing work loads and costs, while increasing communication. By presenting the same information in different arrangements and formats, businesses can increase the reach and communication, while remaining cost conscious.

Businesses quickly found, PowerPoint presentations, be able to be converted into technical articles, or forum posts could be ported to be a basis for a list of frequently asked questions. Along a similar vein webmasters have located a new advent in repurposed content reuse text articles by converting them to audio podcasts.

The process is surprisingly simple, I personally found the prospect to read the articles aloud and record them, both daunting and time consuming, so I opted for a simplified procedure. I found that using two simple programs, i was able to create a podcast in minutes.

The first obstacle, the creation of the sound file was captured with the help of TextAloud program Nextup's. I simply inserted in the text of an article opted for a "vote" and saved the file as an MP3 file. Under a minute, I had a sound file containing the article.

After I had MP3 file is saved, is used in Feedforall's tutorial to create a podcast. Step-by-step tutorial (http://www.feedforall.com/podcasting-tutorial.htm) presented the 12 simple steps to construct a podcast.
I found the quality of the calculated podcasts, use synthesized speech to text, surprisingly good.

Blog and RSS Feed Etiquette
By Sharon Housley

Citizen journalists and writers have become common place on the Internet. Perhaps you are considering blogging, but are unsure how you enter the world of online journaling. As the medium has grown, trøde I, it might be a good idea to gather some general guidelines for new bloggers and reminders to veteran bloggers about blogging practices. There is no Emily Post in blogging that offers etiquette advice or a Miss manners that details appropriate behavior. This does not mean that is not acceptable and unacceptable actions, bloggers should take. In order to communicate effectively as a blogger on the Internet, it is essential to understand the unwritten rules of blogging etiquette. If you copy a different blog posts you should link them.? Yes, dictating to you blog manners do everything possible to credit the original source of the blog entry, it must be done through a link. The link should not contain the code "nofollow". Generally, the comment about the quoted Post must be at least as long as the record will be copied. How much can you quote of another persons blog entry? Fair use allows posts or sections of the posts indicated, but it is generally good practice to quote only what is necessary to keep the context of the record. When you post an excerpt from another person, it is imperative that remain intact, for the record. If any complaints about having a blog post, the program copied the exchange rate, what should I do? The right approach would be to remove the entry violates and replace it with text that explains why an entry was removed. Even if you feel the post was simply fair use and not a copyright infringement, dictating the net courtesy that you respect the original poster wishes and remove the content. Why should you credit your sources? Always credit sources for your information. Attribution is important, it not only enhances your credibility, but it will also help build your channel for future content. Sources to see that you give appropriate attribution will often reward you with more information in the future. How to validate the information? Reputation is as a blogger all. all items must be confirmed prior to posting. Consider using two sources to verify that the information is accurate prior to posting. Also use always reliable sources. Second, sourcing and to be able to rely on credible sources ensure that posts are accurate. I committed an error, what should I do? If you have a change of heart, or posted something, is not 100% accuracy, apologize to the readers and correct information as soon as possible. Not only is it the right thing to do, but often feeds or blog posts syndicated and unless a correction words could perpetuate unchecked. If the error occurs in a blog post in addition to posting an apology, go back to the original entry and strikethrough inappropriate content, and add a comment that indicates why the record has been changed. How should my speech be formatted? Break posts in readable paragraphs. In General, are the best posts are divided into several sections. Be careful not to alienate readers by using ALL CAPS, this is considered "shouting" online, and is thought of as very impertinent. , I have to use proper grammar in the know blog? Proper grammar questions, grammar and spelling can be inconsistent, when instant messages with your friends, but blogs, immortalize their words, the Internet will be an archive for earlier. Appropriate grammar should always be used when blogging or posting to an RSS feed. What really off the record average? Always respect your sources. If you get to know something "off the record" report on it, post it or do not share it with anyone. What is copywritten? Any creative works are copywritten. In the United States and many other countriesm, although the author does not apply for a copyright, is the creative works protected by copyright laws at the moment, the creative work is created. Unless the Creator give up the rights, not creativity reproduced or modified without authorization creators. Copywritten work includes images, text, music or software. If posting a controversial piece, it is appropriate to include the opposing view? It depends on the style of your blog or RSS feed, but in general it is best to include an opposing point of view on controversial topics. Let your readers view both sides of the controversy, they will respect the balance your contains. After basic netetiquette, where posting to the RSS feeds and blogging will build credibility and a following of loyal readers. About the author:

Making money with RSS Feeds

Making money with RSS Feeds
Copyright 2005 Sandra Stammberger

First it was banner ads, then Google AdSense and now the newest way to earn money on your Web site could very well be RSS feeds. Say what? I said: RSS is hot and you want to use it to drive eyeballs to your site. Here is how it works:

Depending on who you ask, RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary". No matter what you call it, RSS is a way to automatically publish (syndicate) someone else's content on your site. Now calm, it is not the same as stealing someone else's content. There is nothing illegal about using RSS feeds. In fact, the Publisher of the content you want it to appear on your site and therefore is he or she makes it available as an RSS feed to begin with.

So what is it for all parties concerned?

Using RSS is a win-win for both the Publisher of the content, who will see their name for potentially millions of sites and you, the site owner, that pulls the content on your site.

Content, means, in fact, everything that a publisher decides it means. Typical content includes news headlines, new product update notices, blog summaries and plenty of other things. It is "content" part of the equation there is good news for you.

Show me the money
One of the best features of hosting RSS feeds is that it gives your site an endless source of freshly updated and relevant content. This content acts as natural search engine spider bait which they want to fill their little tummies on and come back for more each day. Their appetite for fresh content keep your rankings.

Sticky loyalty is not a new Ben and Jerrys taste, but it should be the goal of any serious webmaster who wants to create a Web site, which site visitors coming back to again and again. Use of carefully selected RSS feeds can make that happen by offering unique content that cannot be found elsewhere.

Now please do not commit the error to thinking ", but they can get the same content on the Publisher's Web site, why should they come to my?". Build just it and they will come! Unfortunately, I could not resist says, but it is true. In addition to the RSS content, as you can probably get somewhere else, do you want to add your own sticky loyalty stuff is all about whatever your site is about to begin with. This combination of your own content and RSS feed makes visiting you a purely unique experiencethat cannot be found elsewhere.
